About Dowintons of Guernsey
The first record of the Dowinton name in Guernsey is entered in the records of
the Town Church, St Peter Port in 1779 when Joseph Dowinton of Lye in the
County of Dorset, England (Lye which is Leigh is a village in Dorset and
part of Yetminster) married Marie Allez of the Castel (Guernsey,Channel
Islands). I have traced the Dowinton name in Australia, Canada, India, South
Africa, United Kingdom, and the Channel Islands. I have yet to find a record
with this particular spelling of the Dowinton name who is not descended from
Joseph and Mary Dowinton.

Any additional information would be very much appreciated.
